In light of the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic, some editions will be held online, depending on the health situation of each country.
We have a reason to celebrate! The If Design Awards have awarded us a prize in the Communication discipline in the Corporate Identity/ Branding category. This is an important recognition for us because it rewards the effort we make to hold the competition.
It was not an easy task to choose the best project out of the thirteen presented by the participatants at the final, all of them being winners of their respective editions. But it was finally Ahmad Alkattan, from Heriott-Watt University in Dubai, Arab Emirates, who won the prize, which included 3,000 euros in prize money, a workshop at Domaine Boisbuchet, a BenQ monitor and a Wacom Tablet.
The year ends and it is time to take stock of what has happened in the last twelve months, of remembering the memorable things and discarding any bad memories; and it is also the occasion to think of our good resolutions for the year that is about to begin.
We have reasons to celebrate! The prestigious Red Dot Awards have awarded Roca One Day Design Challenge with a design and creativity prize in the Spatial Communications - Event Design category.
We will celebrate a very special edition of the competition next year, a grand final in which all first prize winners of the 2019 editions held in seventeen cities will be able to participate. The grand final will take place in Barcelona, at the Roca Barcelona Gallery, at the beginning of 2020.
Last year was a year of growth for Roca One Day Design Challenge: it increased the number of cities that hold the competition, the number of participants and the collaborating institutions also grew… A success we hope to repeat in 2019, with the addition of new editions and a final surprise.
With the slogan “Sharing knowledge and cultural news”, this new digital platform presents exclusive content for architects and designers and aims to become a reference point for professionals and students in those fields.
Seven years after the first edition of the competition, it can be said that there is a large community of creative, restless and very active young people around the One Day Design Challenge.
If you follow this journal, this means that you know about the One Day Design Challenge, but you might not know that Roca organizes another design contest, jumpthegap®. With a different format, jumpthegap® is biannual and it is currently celebrating its eighth edition.
