The winners of the competition collaborate with Roca Gallery

With the slogan “Sharing knowledge and cultural news”, this new digital platform presents exclusive content for architects and designers and aims to become a reference point for professionals and students in those fields.
Each month, rocagallery.com is updated with articles, reports, reviews, projects, etc. that revolve around a main editorial thesis about interesting topics in the fields of architecture, design, and innovation.
An expert committee, made up of the architects Raya Ani and Jane Duncan, the architect and urban planner John Palmesino and the editor of Wallpaper* Jonathan Bell, among others, is responsible for setting the editorial lines of the platform and deciding the issues to be addressed. In this context, every month one winner of the One Day Design Challenge is given the opportunity of participating in this project by contributing with an article on the proposed topic. Thus, they can enrich even more their professional experience, not only by participating in the contest but also by being a part of the network of collaborators of Roca Gallery.

The first two articles by the winners of the competition have already been published. The first one is by Amir Shakirov, winner of the We Are Water Foundation award of the 2018 Russia edition and is titled “Dead Places”. The other article has been written by Alexandra Evans, winner of the first prize of the 2018 UK edition and it tells us all about her relationship with the ocean.

On the other hand, all other collaborators, a group made up of more than thirty writers, photographers, architects, designers and artists that contribute to the online platform of Roca Gallery, have been chosen for their experience and vast knowledge of design and architecture. Their opinion pieces provide an expert vision on the proposed topic. Among them we find articles by Benjamin Prosky, executive director of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter; Pedro Gadanho, architect and curator of the department of architecture and design at the MoMA; the photographer Stefan Baumann; Lucy Bullivant, curator and writer; Giovanna Dunmall, journalist; Martín Azúa, designer and founder of Numbered Store, Patricia Espinosa, journalist specializing in design who writes for different publications such as XL Semanal and ABC, and the architects Brian Gallagher and Rafael G. Moriana, among others.
With this collaboration, the community of One Day Design Challenge can benefit from Roca Gallery not only as a user but also as a generator of content and in order to have a base to continue developing its creativity beyond design.
