A number of years have gone by since Alexandra Barrachina won the first prize along with David Navais at the One Day Design Challenge in 2012 with their project Mybowl, a light and compact bathroom furniture unit, easy to carry and which can be connected to any drain, conceived for urban nomads who constantly change from one apartment to another.
After working for large companies and architectural firms such as Desigual and GCA, Alexandra decided the time had come to start her own business career, where she could apply her knowledge and experience and develop her projects.
Five years after winning the first edition of the One Day Design Challenge, this young professional is now designing the interiors for the presentation of Roca products. One of the last projects she is collaborating in is the bathroom space that displays Thinbig®, the latest ceramic product. A bathroom setting with a Mediterranean inspiration was required for the launching of this collection, where these large-sized and extremely slim ceramic pieces, suitable as floor and wall tiles and even to cover furniture, would be the stars. Barrachina has also participated in the design of the props of Roca´s stand at this year´s edition of ISH and she is now working on the design of the bathroom spaces for the new catalogues.
Alexandra´s projects under her igloo brand also include the interior design of a health-conscious nutrition store in Cardedeu, the studio of a photographer located in a former stable, an apartment in the Eixample and a staircase-furniture unit that transforms itself adopting different functions. Alexandra´s words define her working method: “In my projects, I always try to apply criteria to make the most of space and of materials. I always start working on the concept that will be the foundation of the final proposal.”

Her latest project is Tokiota, an interior project for a computer consulting office. The proposal addresses the offices as a meeting point, a cozy and functional space, giving preference to open spaces to enhance relationships between people, with a relaxed and entertaining tone in accordance with the character of the company and the users.
