Introduction
Roca One Day Design Challenge returned to Oman in 2021!
Due to the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic context, this year the contest took place in an online format.
In this way Roca continued to fulfill the goal of promoting creativity and young talents, giving visibility to young architects and designers in the early stages of their careers.
Participants werre challenged to create innovative solutions for the bathroom space in just one day. This year the briefing was to redesign the toilet seat and cover by adding new functionalities.
Among all the submitted projects, the first place was for Vijay Aadithya with the project "Waves, the altruistic toilet", an innovative and sensible approach thinking how to enhance the user experience by giving practical and sustainable solutions.
The second place was for Hanan Thuaar with the design "Smart WC". The powerful idea of turning the design of a bathroom seat into a piece of art made it a great project.
Finally, the third place of the podium was for Khadija AlHussaini & Nouf Aljabri and their project "Frankincense steam toilet". Taking into consideration sanitizing and cleaning using the Omani essences, the project was a great idea and innovative solution.
