Self-promotion is the base of your success

Unfortunately, talent is sometimes not enough when it comes to creativity, as it is also essential to know how to promote an idea and even how to promote ourselves. This might seem an unimportant detail but don’t be fooled, it isn’t. For instance, let’s take Thomas Edison, famous for having invented the light bulb, among other devices. But it was actually the British Joseph Swan who invented the light bulb before him and Edison, somehow, “developed” Swan’s idea. Therefore, why does the world remember Edison and not Swan? Because Edison knew how to promote his invention more effectively.
This is why self-promotion is not a bad idea. It will be easier for the winners of the second edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge in Poland, as they were able to participate in a workshop focused on self-promotion as the base of professional success.
Conducted by Ewa Mierzejewska, journalist specializing in interior design, the workshop provided tricks and tips for designers to create a successful portfolio of their work, a good presentation of their designs and techniques to showcase their ideas, without disregarding the famous elevator pitch.
Based on theory, but with a practical approach, the winners were able to learn promotional tools that complement their creative education and provide more security when facing their professional career.
