Albert Salazar

Currently, professor in the Technology and Sustainability area and Master's Degree Supervisor at UPC/ETSAB, Director of the Architecture, Sustainability, and Energy elective at UPC/ETSAB, and professor at the Visiting Studio seminar since 2021. From 2003-2008, he was a professor at the PFC ETSAB. Co-director of the Escola Sert Postgraduate Program. Member of final thesis and project evaluation boards.

Consultant for BREEAM, LEED, and LEVELS certification systems. Co-founder of AIA studio in 1992. Over 30 years, he has developed a multidisciplinary architecture, technology, and sustainability studio. In 2007, he co-founded ACI – Association of Installation Consultants.

Notable architectural works include the ME Barcelona Hotel and the D123 office building in collaboration with Dominique Perrault, Sitges Convention Center, the refurbishment of the Club Natació Catalunya, Montigalà Municipal Stadium, the Principal Theatre in Badalona, the Espai Maragall Performing Arts Center in Gavà, the Palau d’Esports Catalunya in Tarragona, and the Camp del Ferro sports center in collaboration with Barceló Balanzó architects.

Key technological projects include the refurbishment of the Estació del Nord for the Barcelona Olympic Games, the Sagrada Familia Master Plan, Palau de la Música Catalana, MNAC, Pompeu Fabra University, CaixaForum building, Mercat de les Flors Theatre, Sant Pere de Terrassa churches, and sports buildings in Baku for the 2015 European Games.

He has received various awards, including 1st Prize for research and accessibility solutions in housing (ONCE Foundation), FAD 1996 for the Metropol Theatre, 1st Actecir Construmat Prize for the Jaume I Building at Pompeu Fabra University, and several awards for sustainable housing, wellness centers, and sports facilities, including LEED Gold 2020 and Breeam New Construction 2021.
