Introduction
The second edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge hosted a total of 117 participants on Saturday, September 29. This contest consolidates its presence in Oman and the commitment of the Roca brand to young designers and architects.
The challenge presented to the participants was the redesign of one or several elements of the bathroom space that would improve the user experience for patients with reduced mobility in a hospital.
"Haman" was the first prize winning project, designed by Mohammed Al Balushi. The jury was impressed by the simplicity of the design and the clarity of focus in meeting the needs of less mobile patients.
The second place was obtained by Ibtihaj Alhatmi and Omaira Alhinai with the "Smart Product" proposal. This design seeks to improve the accessibility tools that are common in hospital bathroom spaces.
"Gentle Care" achieved third place. Its designers, Inshirah Al-Mahrami, Walaa Al Balushi, and Zahra Al Raisi, proposed an object that combines all the facilities that are required for the care of a person without the need for others to have to involve a physical effort to help him.
